Bright Nickel Plating
Bright Nickel Plating is one of three forms of nickel plating, and it is used for various purposes. The plating process can be applied to a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals for a clean and bright finish.
Bright nickel plating is most common in the automotive industry. If you’ve ever wondered where the high luster look of your bumpers, rims, exhaust pipes, and other components comes from, you now have your answer.
Many household items, such as plumbing, lighting fixtures, and hand tools are also subjected to bright nickel plating to improve their overall appearance and resistance to wear and corrosion.

Other Types of Nickel Plating
It can often be confusing when one element has several different plating methods that share a similar name but are intended for different purposes.
Nickel is one such element, with 3 popular plating methods that each have different processes and intended applications. We have already spoken about Bright Nickel Plating, so here’s a lowdown on the other two.
The first one is Electroless Nickel Plating, which is applied using an autocatalytic process rather than involving electric current. This process is useful when coating non-conductive materials like plastic.
Dull Nickel Plating follows close to the same process as Bright Nickel Plating, except that it replaces Nickel Sulphamate for Nickel Sulphate. The result is a dull, matte finish with higher corrosion resistance and better malleability. This makes it ideal for machine parts and as an undercoat for gold or silver plating.
